Information

What happens at your appointment?

At your first appointment we will carry out a short assessment, to check your well-being and to discuss your current health and (if applicable) the progress of your pregnancy.

Your treatment will be carried out in a side-lying or semi-reclined position. These are the safest and most comfortable positions for pregnant and post-natal women. There will also be pillows and wedges available for extra comfort. At no time will you be massaged whilst lying on your back or your front whilst pregnant.

Certain conditions do preclude the use of massage during pregnancy, do inform me if you currently have or develop any of the following conditions:

Pre-eclampsia, bloody discharge, gestational diabetes, severe abdominal pain, placenta praevia, ruptured membranes, history of miscarriage or pre-term (premature) labour, high blood pressure, severe nausea, asthma.

Midwife consent

I welcome a working partnership with your midwife/GP as they are your primary health carers during your pregnancy.

I encourage all of my pregnant clients to obtain their midwife or GP’s consent to receive a pregnancy massage, and to inform them of your treatment.

Demonstrations/talks

I am also available to carry out demonstrations/talks to local groups on pregnancy massage, please contact me to discuss further.
